Letherbee Distillers Vernal Lavender & Almond Gin is the 2022 spring seasonal from Chicago's Letherbee Distillers, an independent distillery founded in 2011. It builds on Letherbee's 11-botanical house gin (juniper, coriander, licorice, fennel, angelica, cubeb, lemon and orange peel, cinnamon, almond) with super-grade French lavender and rich almond oil as the lead botanicals, pot-distilled, non-chill filtered and bottled at 48% ABV (96 proof). Only 3,180 bottles were made.Expect lavender flowers and fronds on the nose, then sticky marzipan, lemon curd and almond croissant on the palate, balanced by forest pine and coriander. It is a natural in floral classics: an Aviation, a Clover Club or a Bee's Knees, and it makes a memorable G&T with a lemon twist.
