Coffee Colubrina (Colubrina arborescens)
• Florida Native Hedge & Screen Plant: Coffee Colubrina is a rugged Florida native large shrub or small tree, valued for its dense, clustering growth and glossy dark green leaves with striking yellow veining.
• Handsome Year-Round Texture: New twigs and leaf undersides carry a fine rust-colored fuzz that adds subtle color contrast against the deep green foliage.
• Compact, Tidy Habit: Naturally grows into a dense, rounded form reaching 15-20+ feet, and is easily maintained smaller as a clipped hedge, privacy screen, or specimen tree.
• Low-Litter Fruit: Small capsule fruits split open cleanly when ripe rather than dropping messy debris, making this a great choice for pool decks, patios, and walkways.
• Tough & Adaptable: Once established, this native tolerates heat, drought, and even slightly alkaline or limestone-based soils with ease.
• Versatile Landscape Use: A popular choice for hedges, privacy screens, foundation plantings, and poolside or specimen plantings throughout South Florida.
• Sun & Soil: Performs best in full sun to partial shade in well-drained, sandy soil.
• Native Range: Naturally found from the Miami-Key West area through the West Indies, Mexico, and Central America; hardy in USDA zones 10b-11.
