John Simons: Vol 1 by Giacomo Smith & The Modernist Quintet 12" Vinyl Record｜ Other Products

"We always played jazz in the shops: Sinatra, Lambert Hendricks & Ross, not just the obvious stuff. It was part of the atmosphere. And it still is. That feeling, that style — it shaped me then and still moves me now." John Simons
To celebrate our 70th year in business we have collaborated with Giacomo Smith & The Modernist Quintet to create John Simons: Volume 01. Seven original tracks composed by Giacomo Smith inspired by Be Bop, Ivy style and the JS experience.
Giacomo Smith is a jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, and composer known for his distinctive sound and mastery of both traditional and contemporary jazz styles. “…That’s why I’ve developed such a connection with the team at John Simons and that’s what this record represents — a collection of my original songs that are inspired by the past but very much rooted in the present. It’s gotta be, or else it wouldn’t be very modernist would it?”
Pete Horsfall, Trumpet;  Joe Webb, Piano;  Will Sach, Bass;  Snorre Kirk, drums;  Giacomo Smith, Tenor and Soprano Saxophones. Engineered and Mastered by Andy Apel.
