Stray Dog Wild Gin is made by master distiller Dimitris Melissanidis in the Aridea Mountains of northern Greece, with mountain water and wild local botanicals plus mastiha resin from the island of Chios, which gives the gin its signature pine character. It is bottled at 43.5% ABV (87 proof), and a portion of profits supports Greek animal shelters, hence the name.Drinkhacker rated it an A- (9/10) and called it "a classy gin that definitely has terroir," describing a nose like pine trees on a hot Mediterranean day with juniper, cypress, lemony citrus and herbs, then sage, rosemary and bay leaf on the palate with bold citrus sweetness balanced by savory notes and a juniper-dominant finish. The reviewer found it excellent with quality tonic; it also makes a striking Martini with an olive and a rosemary-garnished Collins.
