A Considered Find｜ Other Products ｜Shenk's Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash 2025 Release

The 2025 Shenk's Homestead is matured in French oak with Vosges-forest staves toasted but not charred — VinePair scored it 93 for buttercream, dried figs, and wood-smoked caramel — at the series' constant 91.2 proof. Shenk's honors John Shenk, the Swiss Mennonite farmer who started distilling in Pennsylvania in 1753 — the origin of what became Bomberger's and then Michter's; the modern Louisville Michter's launched the Legacy Series in 2018, one release a year, each a different wood experiment on a rye-heavy Kentucky sour mash that's neither bourbon nor rye by grain bill. The 2025 is bottled at 91.2 proof from toasted-not-charred French oak. VinePair: toasted marshmallow, buttered sourdough, raspberry, and black cherry on the nose; buttercream frosting, dates, apricots, figs, milk chocolate, and wood-smoked caramel on a creamy palate; and a finish of fig, cherry, caramel, oak, cinnamon, and pink peppercorn. Expect the softest, most dessert-like Shenk's of the recent run. Honest note: Shenk's is allocated every year and the 2025 followed a perfect-score 2024, which makes it the one to open while you keep the other — for the Legacy Series collector and the drinker who wants to taste what toasted French oak does to Michter's sour mash. Neat, in a Glencairn. Shenk's, 2025.Buy Shenk's Homestead Kentucky Sour Mash 2025 Release online with fast shipping right to your door.
