A Thoughtful Selection｜Smoke Wagon Rare and Limited 'Winter Oak' Bourbon Whiskey｜ Other Products

Winter Oak is a Smoke Wagon Rare and Limited blend built from four ages — 20% eleven-year, 26% nine-year, 13% seven-year, 41% five-year MGP bourbon — married in Las Vegas and bottled at 115.94 proof. Aaron Chepenik and Jonathan Hensleigh founded Nevada H&C Distilling in Las Vegas in 2012, sourcing 60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley bourbon from MGP in Indiana and aging and blending it in the Mojave heat; Rare and Limited is the series they created to experiment with blends and release outstanding single barrels without being confined by the price or the profile of the core range. Winter Oak is exactly that — the recipe is printed on the bottle: eleven-, nine-, seven-, and five-year high-rye bourbon blended for the oak-and-spice character the name promises, bottled uncut at 115.94 proof, non-chill-filtered. Expect the Smoke Wagon high-rye signature with the older barrels leading — a dense nose of caramel, cinnamon, leather, and toasted oak, a rich palate of dark cherry, brown sugar, clove, and tobacco with the five-year keeping it lively, and a long, warm, oaky finish. Honest note: a Rare and Limited with eleven-year MGP in the blend and the recipe on the label — for the Smoke Wagon collector and the drinker who wants the leather-and-oak side of the house at full strength.
