Arran 21 is the jewel of the island distillery's core range — twenty-one years in some of the oldest sherry butts in the Lochranza warehouse, 100% sherry-matured, bottled at 46% without chill filtration. Arran opened in 1995 at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran, the first legal distillery on the island in 160 years, and its earliest casks are only now old enough for a bottle like this; the 21 was added to the permanent range in 2018 as the oldest Arran most people will ever see, matured entirely in a marriage of the distillery's oldest sherry butts and bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered, in a presentation box. Expect the Arran house style — orchard fruit, citrus, and honeyed malt, unpeated — aged and sherried into something darker: a nose of dried fruit, orange peel, toffee, and old oak with a floral lift, a rich, rounded palate of raisin, dark chocolate, cinnamon, and beeswax with sherry nuttiness, and a long, warm, gently drying finish. Honest note: twenty-one-year island malt from a distillery that didn't exist thirty years ago is a real achievement, and it's priced under the Speyside equivalents — for the sherry lover who wants something other than Macallan, the Arran collector, and the milestone gift. Neat, in a Glencairn. Arran, twenty-one years.Buy Arran 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky online with fast shipping right to your door.
