Held in Silence is a contemporary figurative painting built around the simple gesture of hands holding onto one another. The composition reduces the human story to form, gesture, texture, and color. An adult hand is surrounded by two smaller hands, creating a quiet visual structure of connection and closeness. Expressive brushwork, imperfect edges, distressed surfaces, and subtle geometric forms give the painting a tactile contemporary character.Olive green, teal, rust, cream, beige, and charcoal form a layered palette, allowing the warm human forms to emerge from the abstract painted field. The work leaves the narrative open, inviting the viewer to interpret the gesture through their own experience of connection and care.
