Gift Set｜Barrell Bourbon Cask Strength Batch 038｜ Other Products

Barrell doesn't make whiskey; it builds it. Founded in Louisville in 2013 by Joe Beatrice, the company sources barrels from across the country and blends them, batch by batch, into cask-strength bourbons that never repeat — and the numbered batches are its core. Batch 038 is the 2026 edition, now on an annual cycle, and it wears a red, white, and blue label for America's 250th anniversary. It's a blend of straight bourbons aged 8 to 15 years from Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, and — for the first time — Maryland, an 8-year component that didn't exist when Barrell Bourbon launched. As always, every component's age and the derived mash bill are on the label, bottled at cask strength with no chill filtration. Breaking Bourbon called it a banger of a batch release that delivers on flavor intensity and range — iterating on 037 by adding age to the Kentucky component and varying the rest. Artfully Bourbon named it one of their favorite releases yet: leaning into maturity without becoming oak-driven, with the balance between fruit, sweetness, spice, and oak making it stand out, not built around a single note or an age statement but a thoughtful whole. Expect a deep amber pour with caramel, dark fruit, and toasted oak on the nose, a dense palate of toffee, cherry, cinnamon, and cedar, and a long, warm finish that opens beautifully with water. Proof varies by batch; check the label. The Whiskey Reviewer notes the numbered batches used to come every season — now they're the event.
