SUMMARY & ADDITIONAL INFO
The classic Golden Princess action-comedy Peking Opera Blues (1986) joins the Imprint Asia library!
This exclusive SteelBook is housed in a Limited Edition Hardbox, with a 60-page hardcover booklet featuring brand NEW essays by artist / film essayist Darren Wheeling and film scholar Wayne Wong. Rediscover the classic film, fully restored from the original camera negative, in Dolby Vision on 4K UHD, and on Blu-ray, loaded with Special Features.
Director Tsui Hark (Once Upon A Time In China, Twin Dragons, Double Team) and stars Brigitte Lin (Police Story), Cherie Chung (Once A Thief), and Sally Yeh (The Killer) light up the screen in this fast-paced and sparkling action-comedy.
In the aftermath of China’s first democratic revolution, three high-spirited young women from very different backgrounds cross paths on a quest for liberation. Fate finds the three joining forces to discover their respective warriors within.
Elegantly blending action, comedy, and social satire into a bright and colorful production (much like Peking Opera itself), Peking Opera Blues boasts Hark’s energetic filmmaking style at the height of his powers, along with the considerable charms of its three leads, and remains an acclaimed classic of Hong Kong cinema.
1500 copies only.
