Fuerte means "strong," and this bottle carries real historical weight: when Don Fulano released it in 2002, it was the first cask-strength-style tequila ever made — decades before high-proof blancos became the enthusiast obsession they are today. It's the same estate juice as the standard Blanco — 100% estate-grown mature highland agave from the Fonseca family's fields around Atotonilco, naturally fermented with wild and cultivated yeast at La Tequileña (NOM 1146), distilled roughly 80% copper pot and 20% column — but bottled at a full 100 proof (50% ABV), unfiltered and additive-free. The extra strength changes everything reviewers love about it: The Tequila Report called it an excellent, memorable high-proof blanco combining sweetness and funk, describing agave, pepper, and minerality hitting first, then funk, citrus, brine, and earth, closing on an herbal, minty warmth that fades slowly. Agave Matchmaker's community praises the fuller mouthfeel, the good funk — olives, cheese, black pepper, earth — and calls it a screaming deal around $50, with one taster noting the black pepper was still lingering as they wrote their review. Layered and complex without being fussy: sip it neat if you're up for it, add a splash of water, or make the margarita of your life.
