Domaine du Coquerel Fine Calvados is the accessible entry point into one of France's most storied apple brandy traditions — and a bottle that takes you directly to the apple orchards of Normandy in every sip. Founded in 1937 near the timeless Mont Saint Michel in the heart of Normandy's apple country, Domaine du Coquerel is one of the region's most celebrated Calvados producers — a name that became so synonymous with the appellation that the word "El Calvador" from which Calvados takes its name is directly tied to the estate's history. The Fine expression is a blend of Calvados aged a minimum of two years in fine-grained French oak barrels — and it takes over 13 pounds of apples to produce a single 750ml bottle. The nose is lifted and aromatic with orchard blossom, fresh cider, and crushed apple skin, while the palate is clean and vibrant with fresh apple, sweet vanilla from the young oak, and a crisp natural acidity — finishing clean, fresh, and floral with a fabulous dry close. The most approachable and cocktail-forward expression in the Coquerel lineup — equally at home in a Calvados Sour, a French apple Tonic, or as a sophisticated substitute for brandy in a Sidecar.
