Retro｜Freddie Gibbs & Madlib: Bandana Beats Vinyl LP｜ Other Products

"I made all of the beats for Bandana on my iPad."Bandana is one of the best hip-hop albums of 2019. It took some time (months? years???) for Madlib & Freddie Gibbs to clear all the samples, and this record allows listeners to focus only on the production. Freddie Gibbs on Bandana beats: "It's alway something obscure. I mean, some samples are some shit that I never heard of, or some weird ass drums that are hard to rap on." What's different is that the Beat Konducta chose to put down his usual SP-303 workflow in favor of a mobile production suite on his Apple tablet, but the collage of sounds that he is able to cull together is as genius, weird, and & fluid as ever. Check out "Crime Pays," "Flat Tummy Tea," "Half Manne Half Cocaine," and "Giannis."
